The Effects of Blue and Green Together in Interior Spaces

I am drawn to shades of blue and green together in a space. This combination is pleasing to the eye because the colors are adjacent on the color wheel and therefore together they are calming. One is reminded of nature; it is about bringing the outdoors inside. Whether they are used on a large scale, in small doses or with a third color I find this combination pleasing to the eye, no matter what shades are incorporated.

Sometimes it is the little touches like the green vase here which warms up the room while pleasant against the blue wall.

In this elegant space, nature adds a dose of green to offset the blue-brown color palette.

In this beachside bunkroom in South Carolina, a pop of solid color against the small-scale print anchors the space while still keeping the mood light and the look cohesive. The rug picks up on the other blues so that the patterns can coordinate, not clash.
